I set up an Orthodox Lending Team in Kiva because … well, because there wasn’t one. But there was a lending team for atheists, with over 600 members. The Christian presence among the lending teams was puny by comparison.

I know that we have many, many solicitations that come to us for our time, money and prayer. Kiva is far from being the only place to donate. But I’m suggesting that as many Orthodox as possible join the Orthodox Kiva Lending Team, because:

• Kiva’s unique microlending allows you to invest and re-invest amounts as small as $25 at a time. If you want, you can just keep re-investing the same amount every time a loan is paid back to you.
• As with all the other avenues of our lives, Orthodox are underrepresented. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if a person’s first contact with the historic Orthodox Church was a curiosity about who this lending group was on Kiva that included people from around the world?
