January 14th, 2008 ~ Just a slice of heaven
The damage doesn’t look all that bad, does it? Shows what we know. We just heard from CarStar, and even the rough estimate was coming in $2000 higher than the bluebook value.
So that’s the end of my Hyundai XG-350. That was the best car I ever owned, and definitely the most reliable.
We just paid it off two months ago.
.
I reeeeeally don’t like how 2008 is starting out.

Oh dear! I hope you were okay.

I wasn’t in the car, and Greg was 99.9% fine. See the previous post for details.

Heartbreaking as it is about the car being totalled, after a nasty accident, your husband is releatively OK and so the car did what it was supposed to do under such conditions. I thank God that he is OK, and that he was not in a less-reliable vehicle. It would have been nice to have been w/o a car payment for a while, but I pray that the insurance can give you a leg-up on a new vehicle.

Everyone is missing the point — the battle has moved on from “Is Greg OK? Thank heavens Greg is OK!”
No, friends and gentle readers, now there is a new battleground: Will Grace Relent And Allow Greg To Make A Totally Irrational Car Purchase?
Hellooooo, 1966 Jaguar!

You see what I’m up against, everyone? I’d like to say that it’s just the trauma from being hit by a computer monitor, but he was like this before, too.

66 Jag… XKE? OH YEAH!

haha I am glad Greg is keeping positive about this whole thing. And really, thank God that Greg is okay :)
Keep us posted on how everything works out.

Tanya,
I’m with you. Verrry glad Greg is okay. Seeing him with blood on his face was a terrible shock.
BTW, for those who came into the story at this post, you’ll really want to read the last post “Broken head, broken voicebox” to see what happened.

We’ve had three Hyundais, I don’t drive one now, but they were good when we needed them to be.
I’m sorry it’s been totalled, but still so glad Greg is ok.
Do you know why Englismen like warm beer? Because Jaguar makes fridges.

You know, in case anyone’s following the comment threads, we all need to mourn not just the loss of the car, but also the appallingly low (as in: fully $4,000 less than we expected) insurance settlement. Feh.

Feh indeed. I’m sorry.
