Tom Cruise’s Scientology indoctrination
January 18th, 2008 ~ Culture gone madGreg sent me this late last night, and I’m posting it right away because it’s very likely that it’ll get yanked off the internet REALLY fast. It’s a 9-minute video that Tom Cruise made to indoctrinate newbies into Scientology. The link is HERE.
Comments:
- Tom Cruise is starting to be the new Michael Jackson. He just keeps getting weirder and weirder every time you look.
- First “huh?” quote: “[A Scientologist] has the ability to create new and better realities and improve conditions.” Oh really, Tom? Can he create a better reality for you than the black turtlenecks you’ve been wearing for the past ten years?
- The value of this for me is to give a sense of who Scientologists think they are. Answer (apparently): the salvation of humanity. Cruise says a lot of things about how “those people are in trouble” and “when you’re a Scientologist, you know you’re the only one that can help.”
- There seems something sinister to me in the way he goes into this incoherent “Catcher in the Rye” peroration about saving all those people, helping all those people and then says something about getting those “Spectators” outta there. The who? The what? What kind of cult-y jihadist talk is that?
No wonder Scientology puts so much of its wealth and focus into bringing expensive lawsuits against anyone that shows what it’s really about. If they were really going to save the world, why would they have to be so afraid of anyone finding out what they actually believe and preach?

I found some of what he said confusing as he was using jargon that I am not familiar with (what is KSW & SP???)
He said unequivocally that Scientology is the authority on healing people with mental illness and rehabilitating criminals. Lets hook Mr. Cruise up with Charles Manson then and see.

That’s right, he did say that. I forgot that bit about rehabilitating criminals. You’re right, there’s definitely room for a good litmus test there.
Yep, I didn’t understand all the acronyms either. And Cruise’s “communication skills” don’t help much. There are minutes at a time where he doesn’t even seem to talk in sentences.

SP = Suppressive Person http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suppressive_person
KSW = Keeping Scientology Working, a book by L. Ron Hubbard

Oh, one more thing. In a BBC documentary I learned that in traditionally Orthodox countries (Serbia/Yugoslavia and Greece at least) Scientology does not present itself as a religion because the organization has (for whatever reason) decided that it is not to its benefit to do so.
In Greece, they were found to be attempting to infiltrate government offices while posing as a non-profit “applied philosophy” center. http://www.xenu.net/archive/greece/

Suppressive Person, often abbreviated SP, is a term used in Scientology to describe the “antisocial personalities” who, according to Scientology’s founder L. Ron Hubbard, make up about 2.5% of the population. Another 18% are PTS (Potential Trouble Source), as a result of the SPs. (Wikipedia)
KSW “Keep Scientology Working” (Wikipedia)
These people are total whack jobs!

Mark & Tina: Thanks for the info. That KSW thing doesn’t make much sense, but judging from Cruise’s usage, it sounds like some big ‘aha’ moment for Scientologists when they feel like everything clicks.

I found his laughter fits especially disturbing. I keep thinking of his child and her future while watching this….

Grace I was wandering through Google News and found this link explaining Cruise’s words. I think having the explanations make what he said more scary.
What the Heck was Tom Cruise saying?
