Singing away Fr. John
April 23rd, 2005 ~ La Vida IglesiaOn Wednesday and Thursday, we held the funeral services for Fr. John Platko. Archbishop JOB said in his remarks at the beginning that the Serbian words for funeral carry the meaning that you “sing away” the deceased. I thought that understanding was particularly appropriate for someone as musically inclined as Fr. John. And I also found the services for a priest profound and the whole experience rife with lessons to reflect on on this bitter cold day. I record some of the service and such thoughts as an impatient and immature soul as myself can muster here in the articles section.
