Senator Landrieu about can-do

September 13th, 2005 ~ Current events

This entry of Fr. John Whiteford’s reminds me not to let Senator Mary Landrieu’s stupid remarks go unmentioned. In an interview on Fox News, she snippily responded to questions about the slow response in New Orleans by saying:

I am not going to level criticism at local and state officials. Mayor Nagin and most mayors in this country have a hard time getting their people to work on a sunny day, let alone getting them out of the city in front of a hurricane.

Soooo … what our ignoramus of a president and the incompetant Republican morons have to understand is that it is their fault that they didn’t take into account that city workers in Louisiana can’t be counted on to go to work on a sunny day.

It’s unbelievable stuff. And I would think it was just a complete gaffe, but she said it again a minute later, as if she didn’t want anyone to miss the point. Our federal government should have known that city workers are lazy and irresponsible. We should take them to task for not figuring that into their disaster relief plans.

Hoo boy. I have no idea if these guys will get away with this in the long run, but I really, really hope they don’t.
