We’ve had a deliciously mild summer so far, but August seems intent on making up for lost time. So when I take Clementine for the late afternoon walk, I’m all for being focused and brief with our attentions to all the familiar landmarks. But what can you do with a scent hound? Clementine caught scent of something in the grass and just wouldn’t be shifted. So I resigned myself, but when I looked at her stance, I realized she reminded me of one of the details in a famous painting. So I thought I’d try to capture her in that style and see if I remembered right or not. Just a bit of fun, or maybe the heat got to me. Anyway, here’s how it went …

The painting I was thinking of was pointillist George Seurat’s “A Sunday Afternoon on The Island of La Grande Jatte” - HERE. I remembered thinking that the dog in that picture wasn’t very believable, but here was Clementine standing in what seemed to me to be exactly the same pose. Or was she? I promised myself I wouldn’t look at the original until I was finished with Pointillist Clementine. So here she is Seurat-style:

So no, not quite the same. His dog was black, mine’s blue-tick. His dog had a normal tail, mine has a perpetually happy tail.

Or else it’s just a matter of thinking of the wrong animal for the tail. Both the yip-dog and the monkey in the painting have happy tails.
