Blogging for Beulah-land
March 11th, 2005 ~ La Vida IglesiaWell, what do you know? Christian bloggers are going to have our own convention. Still a lot that isn’t known about it, from the looks of things, but I think it sounds very interesting.
It may sound a little silly. What are Christian bloggers going to say to each other that just bloggers or just Christians haven’t already said? But I don’t know. Blogging seems like a little powerhouse of a medium. I’d hate to see it over-analyzed and over-hyped. On the other hand, there’s a lot to be said for something that puts the thoughts of many, many “mere Christians” out there. I know the blogosphere is dizzying in its breadth, with zillions of newbies showing up everywhere. But I’ve already found it a very amazing place.
We tend to break the entire culture war down into evangelistic efforts. It would be great if lives could be changed for the better just by seeing things from a different point of view. But I think there’s also a lot to be said for just plain saying — like the Whos — “We are here. We are here. We are here. We are HERE.”
(I just noticed that they’re looking for someone to facilitate a section on Orthodox blogging. Hope there’s someone who can do it. Orthodox go under-represented enough as it is.)

So, um… why don’t YOU facilitate the session?

Oh, I don’t know. Just something about being grossly underqualified that messes up my mojo. I know that’ll strike you as some kind of false modesty, but actually it’s the real — and very appropriate — thing. I’m guessing these are all people with incredible credentials. And I — well, I make a heck of a peanut butter cookie.
