Answer to prayer
September 2nd, 2007 ~ Pop goes the cultureI just thought I’d give an update on this prayer request about my friend, Laura, whose father from Romania had a major heart attack and stroke while he was here visiting. I’m glad to say that the hospital has agreed to foot the bill to send Laura’s father, Nicolae, home to Romania. It’ll cost about $20,000 to do it, but it’ll be cheaper for them to do that than to keep caring for him with no end in sight. (Since he’s not a US citizen, he wasn’t qualified for any special Medicare deals.) The hospital was a little rude to the family, making the flight arrangements with so little communication with Laura that her mother almost wasn’t able to get a reservation on the same flight. But it’s still an answer to prayer.
So Nicolae and his wife will fly home on Friday. Laura had a sudden attack of appendicitis on Monday and had to have an emergency appendectomy. But after she finishes recovering from that, and after she sees her parents off on the flight, she can “relax” and start taking care of her new baby(!)
Many thanks for the prayers offered on their behalf.

Eek indeed! I couldn’t believe Laura had this latest emergency. (She ended up just a few doors down from her father at the hospital.) But she’s been remarkably tough and upbeat about it. It’s a bit of an inspiration.
